Now appearing on Gazaro.com, Fry’s!

In our search for the best deals on electronics and computer products, we are constantly finding new stores to deliver the deals. Recently we started tracking products on Fry’s and I am happy to announce that they are now appearing on Gazaro.com.

They don’t have a lot of great deals at the moment, but in time as we continue to find new products and see their prices change, I’m sure we will start seeing some great deals from Fry’s.

David Spark Explains Gazaro on the Radio

David Spark, a technology journalist from San Francisco, was on 910AM KNEW radio talking with Rob Black about technology, apps, and saving money. He is a big fan of Gazaro, and when Rob asked him what a good tool to track deals was – Gazaro was his suggestion!

Rob: What are some good tools to track deals?

David: For electronics specifically, there is a great service called Gazaro.

David: It will create a deal score saying “this is a good deal – now is the time to jump in”

David also published a blog post to go along with this interview. In the post he outlines some great ideas of how to save money. His best advice was simple, ask people! He recent purchased an HP Computer and tweeted about the deal he got on it with a coupon code for HP’s online store. One of his followers on Twitter replied to him with an even better coupon code, allowing him to quickly cancel his first order and reorder with a coupon for $350 off, instead of the $200 off coupon that he had. Just like David, we love Twitter too – so be sure to follow him on there @dspark and Gazaro @Gazaro.

His blog post also touched on a number of ideas, including price protection, social buying, and using mobile applications to save money on purchases. Mobile apps are something we are quite familiar with and can really be a big money saver when you are in a store. If you have a smart phone you can load up Gazaro in the browser or iPhone users can grab our iPhone app Gazaro Deals to see if the store’s price is really the best one.

Ottawa Business Journal names Gazaro a “Startup to Watch”

The Ottawa Business Journal has named Gazaro one of 2010’s “Startups to Watch“. Jim Donnelly of the OBJ has just posted an special report on Gazaro, featuring an interview with our CEO Sam Zaid. The article outlines what Gazaro does, and how we stand out from the competition.

Drumroll please – We are proud to present to you Gazaro’s first iPhone app, Gazaro Deals! Now you can find amazing deals on electronics on the go and have the power of Gazaro in your palm of your hand. Get more information about the app on our Gazaro Deals iPhone Page.

Some ways you can use Gazaro Deals:

1. When you’re wandering around the mall with nothing specific in mind to buy, whip out Gazaro Deals and check what deals are nearby. Plot the nearest stores on a map and even get store information such as store hours and telephone number.

2. Now that you have Gazaro Deals, can you really trust what stores advertise in their flyers? Walk into a store and use Gazaro Deals to sort deals by store to find the true hot deals!

3. Found an item in store that you think is a good deal? Double check using Gazaro Deals by pulling up the product page using the search function.

New site, new look, new features

For all those Canadians sitting, waiting and wishing for Gazaro to come across the border, the wait is finally over! I am happy to announce that we are launching a beta version of Gazaro Canada at http://www.gazaro.ca. The Canadian site currently supports the 5 stores listed below and includes all the features you can find on the new Gazaro.com; we’re working hard bring more stores to you soon.

And yes you read correctly, there is a new Gazaro.com! Our website has been redesigned so that it is now over 9000X easier to navigate through and find great deals faster! If you prefer the old Gazaro, you can always click the link on the top right corner of the site that says “Looking for the old Gazaro?“.

One new feature the new Gazaro site has is the ability to overlap Price Trending charts. Simply click on the colored square corresponding to the store whose chart you’d like to see and it will appear on the chart on the left. You can click as many as you want – don’t worry, you won’t break it.

You can now also tweet the awesome deals you find to your friends, simply click the “Tweet this deal” link under the product image and it will bring you to straight to Twitter.

Gazaro Chosen As Finalist For AWS Start-Up Challenge

Gazaro has been selected as 1 of 7 finalists for the AWS Start-Up Challenge! The AWS (Amazon Web Services) Start-Up Challenge looks for the most promising start-ups that can grow into significant, meaningful, and lasting companies that leverage AWS to build its infrastructure and business.

We’ll be going out to San Jose, CA, USA on December 9 to present Gazaro to a judges panel of AWS executives, to a live audience and a panel of leaders from the venture capital community. This month, we will be working with Amazon to post a video on aws.amazon.com where the community can vote for their favorite start-up. We’ll keep you updated on when that starts – hope to see your support!

We kept you hanging with our last post about Sam’s nomination for this award but we’re back with great news! Sam Zaid,the founder of Gazaro and Apption (in which Gazaro is incubated under), is the winner of the Ernst & Young Ontario Young Entrepreneur Award!

The E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Awards recognize those the spirit and contribution of entrepreneurs in Ontario and around the world. It is awarded based on the nominee’s motivation and demonstrated leadership, obstacles that he or she had to overcome, unique or innovative company characteristics, financial performance and company growth, as well as current performance and community involvement.

…because we’re launching our first ever contest! It’s a huge secret. Wrapped in an enigma. And sushi rice. Mmm sushi rice…

If you already have a Gazaro account (good job, keep being AWESOME) then you’re a step ahead. If not, it’s cool, you can still play, but you’ll have to participate in a few “initiation” rituals. By “participate in”, I mean “survive” and “a few” is actually more like ”a few hundred”. (you can always get your Gazaro account here. No blood sacrifices necessary.)
