What’s in a Name?

Companies chose their names for various reasons. Some have symbolic meaning, others are simple abbreviations and few have nothing to do with anything.

Personally, it gives me a warm fuzzy to know that Mercedes is named after the first daughter of Emil Jellinek. Very cute. But I also love the straight-forward nature of 7-Eleven as they are open from 7:00am to 11:00pm. Can’t stray too far off that path now.

Maybe I’m out of the loop but did you know Pepsi is named after the digestive enzyme, pepsin? That’s my fun fact for the day!

Strangely enough, there appears to be a common theme with flowing water. Weird, I know, but take for example Amazon.com which refers to the great Amazon River and Adobe, which is named after a creek that ran behind John Warnock’s house. If you are looking for a name, I highly suggest Mississippi, Nile or even Zambezi as it seems a name like this can almost guarantee success. Forget everything else ;)

With Gazaro, we put on our creative hats and looked to Latin where gaza means treasure and aro means to produce. Put them together and we’ll produce treasure for you! Haha either we get some props or nods of the head but it was a valiant effort.

If you are looking for a time killer, take a look at Wikipedia’s list…who knows, it could be your fun fact for the day!
