Only three more sleeps until the big day! Unless you’re not done your shopping yet…then, it’s more like no sleeps. But don’t worry! Trusty Gazaro still has your back! This week, we’re looking at some great webcams. They make a great gift because:
1) they provide a safe distance barrier between you and your contactee. If this contactee is a relative, hey, nice!
2) You can keep tabs on what cousins look like now. I don’t think Elizabeth liked when I mistook her for Eric….
3)They’re cheap. Hey-when was that ever a bad reason to buy a gift. Exactly.
Not just a pretty face: the Logitech QuickCam Deluxe for notebooks has excellent video quality. JR has it for $35 (down from a regular price of $59.99). The Logitech has an anti-echo feature meaning that you don’t need a headset-you can use a mike.
I’ve seen a lot of webcams, and I can easily say, this is, uh, the most…dinosaur-esque. The Computer Expressions Dinosaur Webcam is completely functional (as a webcam, not as a dinosaur. As a dinosaur, it’s disappointingly nonfunctional), has a sharp image and fast connection. JR has this webcam for only $9.99-savings of 50%. Plus it’s ADORABLE. If you’re too young to remember the dinosaurs, there’s a puppy one too.
If you’re looking for a higher-end model, check out the Microsoft LifeCam NX-6000 from Amazon.com for $33 down from $100. This webcam has a built-in microphone, can capture 7.6 megapixel pictures and 2.0 megapixel videos and a 71-degree wide-angle lens. It’s got some great specs, and has received tons of positive customer reviews, but it’s no dinosaur. Or puppy. Just saying.
The Hercules Dualpix Chat and Show is a neat little webcam from Walmart for only $33. What is Chat and Show you may ask? It’s not some horrible gameshow…or a repressed memory from grade school…no, Chat and Show is the ability to instantly and simultaneously send photos to contacts during video chat sessions. Unless you like waiting, which we get-time to go make a sandwich. The dinopuppy webcam would probably accommodate that better anyway.
You’d better move quickly though, unless you’re into the habit of giving New Year’s gifts, in which case, we really really REALLY like the dinopuppy.
